\nAny year I rewatch Stop Making Sense<\/em> on a big screen, it’s the best movie I rewatched that year.<\/p>\n

2. A Page of Madness<\/a><\/em> (1926, Teinosuke Kinugasa)<\/strong>
\nWith Alloy Orchestra in a theater full of disoriented patrons… The Lost World<\/a><\/em> was fun, too.<\/p>\n

3. Nosferatu<\/a><\/em> (1922, F.W. Murnau)<\/strong>
\nVery good live band at the Alamo. I’m noticing that film\/concert experiences are topping this list.<\/p>\n

4. The Passion of Joan of Arc<\/a><\/em> (1928, Carl Theodor Dreyer)<\/strong>
\nFilmstreams… with live music<\/p>\n

5. Suspiria<\/a><\/em> (1977, Dario Argento)<\/strong>
\nFully restored with delirious color on a huge screen with a sold-out crowd.<\/p>\n

6. Yi Yi<\/a><\/em> (2000, Edward Yang)<\/strong>
\n7. The Manchurian Candidate<\/a><\/em> (1962, John Frankenheimer)<\/strong>
\n8. Stalker<\/a><\/em> (1979, Andrei Tarkovsky)<\/strong>
\n9. Blade Runner<\/a><\/em> (1982, Ridley Scott)<\/strong>
\nAll in their latest HD versions at home, my first time watching them since the VHS days.<\/p>\n

10. Spirited Away<\/a><\/em> (2001, Hayao Miyazaki)<\/strong>
\nSomehow I didn’t recognize this as a masterpiece when I first watched in theaters.<\/p>\n

11. The Cabinet of Jan Svankmajer & Stille Nacht<\/a><\/em> (1984-93, Brothers Quay)<\/strong>
\nSuch tactile little films, HD makes a big difference.<\/p>\n

12. Duelle<\/a><\/em> and Noroit<\/a><\/em> (1976, Jacques Rivette)<\/strong>
\nI’d seen these not so long ago, but they’re awesome.<\/p>\n

13. Kill Bill<\/a><\/em> (2003-04, Quentin Tarantino)<\/strong>
\nAlso rewatched Grindhouse<\/a><\/em> and most of Basterds<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

14. The Love Witch<\/a><\/em> (2016, Anna Biller)<\/strong>
\nAt first look I wasn’t sure what to make of it, then I read Sicinski’s article a couple times and watched again as soon as it hit blu-ray – it’s incredible.<\/p>\n

15. Idiocracy<\/a><\/em> (2006, Mike Judge)<\/strong>
