It&#8217;s 90+ percent footage from San Francisco movies and shows (credited at the end in a dizzying rush of title cards), with some added effects: manipulated TV and film screen images, dialogue chopped out leaving behind only pauses and breaths, and the titular fog.  Everything is fit into 4:3, a few bits of dialogue or voiceover are left in, and the whole thing is accompanied by great string music by Jacob Garchik and the Kronos Quartet.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/journal\/image18\/greenfog1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>I probably would&#8217;ve enjoyed this just as much without knowing the story concept, but having the <em>Vertigo<\/em> storyline to follow makes it more memorable.  Favorite sections: the &#8220;women looking at paintings&#8221; scene, the &#8220;Chuck Norris being pensive&#8221; footage, and especially the ending, a montage of bickering couples and earthquakes leading to the final death plummet.  Good use of screens and tape recorders, and humor throughout &#8211; this isn&#8217;t as extreme as <a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/11274\">Tscherkassky<\/a> or <a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/298\">Martin Arnold<\/a> in its found-footage manipulation, but just as enjoyable.  <a href=\"https:\/\/mubi.com\/notebook\/posts\/review-vertigo-remade-guy-maddin-evan-johnson-galen-johnson-s-the-green-fog\">David Cairns<\/a> points out there&#8217;s a Bill Morrison equivalent, <em>Spark of Being<\/em> as a found-footage <em>Frankenstein<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/journal\/image18\/greenfog2.jpg\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I thought about watching this, then rewatching Vertigo, then rewatching this&#8230; but I&#8217;m not made of free time here, so I just wikipediaed Vertigo then watched this once.
