{"id":14353,"date":"2021-08-03T21:00:32","date_gmt":"2021-08-04T01:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deeperintomovies.net\/journal\/?p=14353"},"modified":"2021-08-01T16:56:21","modified_gmt":"2021-08-01T20:56:21","slug":"inventory-criterion-01-50","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deeperintomovies.net\/journal\/archives\/14353","title":{"rendered":"Inventory: Criterion 01-50"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in the day there was an urge to watch all the Criterion movies &#8211; after all, they&#8217;ve got completist-friendly catalog numbers and are self-described as &#8220;important.&#8221;  Now I have lists, and lists of lists, and I don&#8217;t need to rely on any one distributor as a gatekeeper of excellence, but there&#8217;s still that urge, and I still keep track of what they put out, and subscribe to their streaming service, and believe in the back of my mind that if I was stuck at home for a long time, like say if there was a global pandemic, it&#8217;d be fun to watch them all. Nancy<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Lord of the Flies<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Insomnia<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Armageddon<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Salo<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<br \/>\nBonus Features:<\/p>\n<p><em>The Lady Vanishes<\/em> add-on feature <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/8270\">Crook&#8217;s Tour<\/a><\/em> was decent.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/13667\">The Steamroller and the Violin<\/a><\/em> is on the Rublev blu.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Weir&#8217;s <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/14228\">Homesdale<\/a><\/em> was on the <em>Picnic at Hanging Rock<\/em> reissue.<\/p>\n<p>Haven&#8217;t caught most of the <em>M<\/em> extras or all ten hours of the <em>Seven Samurai<\/em> features.<\/p>\n<p>I played every single thing on the <em>Seventh Seal<\/em> reissue, including the <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/9938\">Bergman Island<\/a><\/em> doc, not to be confused with the new Mia Hansen-Love feature.<\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t remember which of the <em>Beauty\/Beast<\/em> commentaries I&#8217;ve played, but reading Cocteau&#8217;s making-of diaries was enough&#8230; I didn&#8217;t make it very far into the Philip Glass opera audio option.<\/p>\n<p>Not too interested in the <em>Night to Remember<\/em> material.<\/p>\n<p>I see the <em>Amarcord<\/em> disc is full of good stuff and <em>Walkabout<\/em> has an hour-long David Gulpilil doc.<\/p>\n<p>Even if I go on a John Woo kick, not sure those commentaries would be easy to find anymore (and why is Roger Avary on one?).<\/p>\n<p>Missed the two shorts on the <em>Insomnia<\/em> disc.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t remember how many of the <em>Fishing With John<\/em> audio commentaries I&#8217;ve heard, but I know I&#8217;ve played that Lounge Lizards music video more than a few times.<\/p>\n<p>The new <em>Taste of Cherry<\/em> blu has a Kiarostami-produced &#8220;sketch film&#8221; I&#8217;d like to see and an A.S.
