Friends and strangers are quarantined on a Greek island, told no touching, no gathering in groups, and each person stands up in turn saying &#8220;oh but I am the special exception and I simply must leave the island.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brutal General Boris Karloff puts himself in charge of law and order.  Ellen Drew (halfway between <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/1348\">Christmas in July<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/2491\">Baron of Arizona<\/a><\/em>) cares for Katherine Emery (<em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/9418\">The Maze<\/a><\/em>), while a boring white guy (Marc Cramer of <em>The Canterville Ghost<\/em>) pines for Ellen.  Not pining for Ellen are Karloff and the Lady In Black (Helene Thimig of <em>Cloak &#038; Dagger<\/em>), who believe Ellen is an evil spirit who brought the plague.  This belief is explained by the amazing opening titles: &#8220;under conquest and oppression the people of Greece allowed their legends to degenerate into superstition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>Conspirators:<\/em><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/journal\/image21\/isledead1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><em>Confronting Ellen:<\/em><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/journal\/image21\/isledead2.jpg\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A great movie to watch in the covid era.
