Doesn&#8217;t quite track as an <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/15575\">On The Count of Three<\/a><\/em> reunion &#8211; Jerrod Carmichael is an intellectual friend of Hanna Schygulla &#8211; in different scenes\/country from Chris Abbott: Emma&#8217;s former husband, &#8220;The General,&#8221; who they lobotomize so everyone can live together happily.<\/p>\n<p>The critics are mostly angry over the fisheye lens.  Also: &#8220;the movie\u2019s provocations are all at the level of its ghastly aesthetic, which feels like a prank on the viewer&#8221; per <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/brendanowicz\/film\/poor-things-2023\/\">Brendanowicz<\/a>, it&#8217;s &#8220;infantilizing and visually one-note&#8221; per <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/josephinegloria\/film\/poor-things-2023\/\">Josephine<\/a>, and I dunno what <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/aliarikan\/film\/poor-things-2023\/\">Ali<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/letterboxd.com\/saccard\/film\/poor-things-2023\/\">Jon<\/a>&#8216;s issues are.
