Voiceover narrates the action, but not exactly, and not in sync with what we&#8217;re seeing (<a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/16662\">messing<\/a> with sound sync was <a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/16669\">all the rage<\/a> in 1974).  The first sync dialogue comes after an hour, when she&#8217;s left the house and is riding around with a trucker.  I would not have guessed it&#8217;d end in an extended sex scene, probably with the ex she was mourning while eating all that sugar.  Feels far more electric than the depopulated <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/16240\">Hotel Monterey<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/journal\/image24\/jetu1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Trucker Niels Arestrup was also in <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/604\">Stavisky<\/a><\/em> this year, went on to collect awards for playing in Audiard movies (lead prison gangster in <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/11064\">A Prophet<\/a><\/em>), and the girl at the end, Claire Wauthion, was in <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/9758\">La M\u00e9moire Courte<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/journal\/image24\/jetu2.jpg\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Chantal\/Elle spends a month alone in a plain apartment eating spoonfuls of sugar out of the bag.
