Supposedly there was uncredited script doctoring by the writer of <em>Dreamcatcher<\/em>.  So it wasn&#8217;t going to rival <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/98\">Shaun of the Dead<\/a><\/em> for quality, but it was lightly amusing.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not familiar enough with recent teen-sex comedies to recognize stars Jesse Eisenberg (<em>Adventureland<\/em>) and Emma Stone (<em>Superbad<\/em> and <em>The House Bunny<\/em>).  I might&#8217;ve known Jesse &#8211; he&#8217;s the older brother in <em>The Squid and the Whale<\/em>, someone or other in <em>The Village<\/em> and the main dude in <em>Roger Dodger<\/em> &#8211; but mainly he just reminded us of Michael Cera.  Jesse is our nerdy rule-following narrator who meets badass Woody (really a sensitive guy who has experienced loss, and who loves <em>Caddyshack<\/em>) and then scam artist sisters Emma and Little Miss Sunshine (of <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/237\">Little Miss Sunshine<\/a><\/em>).  The movie&#8217;s world is impressively empty &#8211; no other packs of survivors except for a lone Bill Murray (and incidentally, I haven&#8217;t seen a celebrity-playing-himself get shot to death in a comedy since <em><a href=\"\/journal\/archives\/575\">Harold &#038; Kumar 2<\/a><\/em>) and a cameo by Mike White in flashback.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From the acclaimed director of Girls Guitar Club and Between Two Ferns, and the writer\/producers of a reality prank show.
