{"id":513,"date":"2008-03-05T18:42:53","date_gmt":"2008-03-05T22:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deeperintomovies.net\/journal\/archives\/513"},"modified":"2008-03-05T18:42:53","modified_gmt":"2008-03-05T22:42:53","slug":"peeping-tom-1960-michael-powell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deeperintomovies.net\/journal\/archives\/513","title":{"rendered":"Peeping Tom (1960, Michael Powell)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Things noticed during this, my third viewing of <em>Peeping Tom<\/em> and first in a theater:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Moira Shearer doesn&#8217;t do much dancing &#8211; but she does a little.<\/li>\n<li>Similarities to Hitchcock&#8217;s <em>Psycho<\/em> with the psychoanalysis of a killer, probably better done here than in <em>Psycho<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Written by Leo Mark, my old databases teacher!<\/li>\n<li>The girls Mark kills don&#8217;t try very hard to get away.<\/li>\n<li>Mrs. Stephens (Maxine Audley, Chaplin&#8217;s queen in <em>A King In New York<\/em>) is drunk during her close-call confrontation in Mark&#8217;s back room.  She is always drunk!<\/li>\n<li>Helen (Anna Massey, later in <em>Frenzy<\/em> and still a prolific actress) has the best &#8220;thank you&#8221;s that I have ever heard on film.  This was her second film, and her first (John Ford&#8217;s <em>Gideon&#8217;s Day<\/em>) also featured a serial killer.  She is kind of annoying at times, though, like when she sees the lizard on one of Mark&#8217;s films.<\/li>\n<li>Powell appears as Mark&#8217;s father, who abuses Mark in the name of science.<\/li>\n<li>The color and cinematography are awesome.<\/li>\n<li>The movie is awesome!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Things noticed during this, my third viewing of Peeping Tom and first in a theater: Moira Shearer doesn&#8217;t do much dancing &#8211; but she does a little.
