Last November I held the “month of 121 shorts” and burned myself out, so I didn’t feel like watching many in 2010. Thirty made the list last year including runners-up, but I barely watched that many in total this year. Anyway, here are twelve that I loved.<\/p>\n

Letter to Uncle Boonmee<\/a><\/em> (2009, Apichatpong Weerasethakul)<\/strong><\/p>\n 8. \nSpecifically, the two entries with children in them, by Samira Makhmalbaf and Idrissa Ouedraogo. They’re the only two that dared to treat the subject with lightness or humor, and their bravery paid off.<\/p>\n
